Mahogany Fern

Mahogany Fern

Didymochlaena truncatula

This beautiful fern gets its name from the stunning mahogany color shown in the fronds of new growth, which will eventually age to dark green. The Mahogany Fern is considered a medium-sized fern growing, with time, to a height of 24-36" and a width of 36".

Give the Mahogany Fern direct light from an eastern or northern window, or indirect light from a southern or western exposure. Keep the soil evenly moist (not wet) and be sure to reduce the frequency of watering in the winter. Fertilizer is not recommended. Should this fern need additional nutrition, use an organic solution such as fish emulsion or one made from kelp or algae.
